A home search is personal by nature, shaped as much by place as by the house itself. This Neighborhood Spotlight explores Fort Worth and DFW neighborhoods through lived experience—architecture, local character, and the details that shape daily life. Each feature reflects what gives a neighborhood its distinct feel, informed by the people who live there and the homes they inhabit. It’s a place to consider how neighborhoods reflect the people who live there, and how that collective identity carries into life at home.

In Crestwood, mature trees, generous lots, and a close connection to the Trinity River shape a distinct sense of place. This Neighborhood Spotlight centers on a conversation with longtime residents who entrusted me with listing their home as they prepared to move closer to their grandchildren. They reflect on the house and neighborhood that shaped their daily lives as they close a meaningful chapter.

What do you enjoy about living in the area?

When we aren't traveling, my husband and I work from home. This house is such an easy spot to come and go from. Outside of the convenience, we love the beauty of Crestwood — the trees and proximity to the Trinity River. I walk my dog on the Trinity Trails every day. The neighborhood is multigenerational with diverse homes. We’ve loved living here!

What is your favorite spot in the house? Why?

We love cooking in the backyard, below twinkle lights strung between the many trees on the property. It’s a great house to entertain and host dinners with friends.

What are your favorite local restaurants?

One of our favorite spots is Mi Cocina, which has two locations close by – at the Chapel Hill Shopping Center on Hulen and Sundance Square in downtown. Joe T. Garcia’s on the Northside is great for family get togethers and special occasions, with its beautiful gardens and fountains.

Describe what a typical weekend might look like for someone living in this neighborhood.

Fort Worth is known as the City of Cowboys and Culture, and Crestwood is at the heart of it all. For art, check out the Modern, Kimball, and Amon Carter museums. For cowboy culture, attend one of the many equestrian events at Will Rogers, or visit the Stockyards for great western shopping – be sure to stop by Hotel Drover! For a more urban experience, Sundance Square Downtown has tons of events, restaurants, and beautiful fountains.
