A Conversation with Ruby Powell of Ageless Perfection Skin Care Studio

Ruby Powell has long been part of the local Fort Worth small business landscape. She founded Ageless Perfection Skin Care Studio to help clients of every age feel confident in their skin, offering practical, take-home skincare knowledge in a calm, spa-like studio. She joined me to share more about her skincare practice and the perspective that shapes it.

Can you tell us a little about background, and what inspired you to start your business?

I moved to Fort Worth from Tyler, Texas, and have lived here for over 40 years. I spent more than 30 years in corporate America working in marketing and strategic business development. I began my career in sportswear, designing apparel for the Ben Hogan Golf Company, and later worked for RadioShack as a Business Planning Manager.

I was part of a big layoff, and by then I was ready for a change of pace. Corporate America was changing, and in my view, it wasn't for the better. I joined a local salon and spa to gain insight into the beauty industry before venturing out on my own. Opening my studio felt like an exciting challenge, and a natural way to pair my passion for skincare with a desire to care for others.

How has being an entrepreneur in Fort Worth influenced both your business and the experience you create for clients?

I was determined to build a practice that serves clients of all ethnicities – and I have. Early on, I grew the business through a Groupon campaign and by attending local networking events to connect with other entrepreneurs. I later earned an Oncology Certification, which opened a new avenue for the practice and allowed me to educate cancer patients on caring for their skin and nails through the Look Good Feel Better organization. I want my clients to know that I take my craft seriously, that they matter, and that I’m committed to helping them address their skin concerns in a space where they feel comfortable and cared for.

Why did you choose to work with Skin Script? Do you have a favorite product?
